Bob Gillies
My wife, Joan, and I have lived in Springfield Township for over 20 years and are raising our three children Maura, Meghan and Robert III in this community. Since moving to Oreland, I have been an active member of Holy Martyrs Parish. I have demonstrated my commitment to our community in a number of ways. I have participated as: volunteer for Town Watch, coach for our youth sports programs within the Parks and Recreation Department, CYO and Oreland Wyndmoor Little League, president and board member of the Oreland Swim Club, board member of the Springfield Aquatic Club, mentor in the Teen Life Organization in Springfield, member and Past President of the Lions Club, and member of the Springfield Township Planning Commission. My involvement in these community services has provided me with a vast understanding of the needs and wants of Springfield Township Residents.
As a professional construction manager for the last 25 years, I understand first-hand the ways taxes and regulations impact our community both in the business and residential areas. As your commissioner, I have worked hard to modify ordinances to develop an AAA district while protecting the property rights, to re-development of the Ivy Hill corridor, to provide additional open space at minimal impact to the local tax rate, to improve storm water management, to work with The Flourtown Erdenheim Enhancement Association along Bethlehem Pike. My goal is to assure that Springfield Township maintains the best township services among municipalities in the region while limiting tax increases and when possible LOWERING THE REALESTAE TAX.
I look forward toward the next four years with a renewed sense of optimism.
Sincerely,
Bob Gillies
Commissioner Ward 7
